Compact Dewatering Plant

The DRAIMAD® / TEKNOBAG® bags dewatering system was developed for municipal and industrial waste water plants less than 3.000 people equivalent (p.e.). Waste water plants of this size normally only have the option to dispose of waste at very high cost. This economical technology can dewater up to about 160 kg dry solids of municipal sludge per day. Over 3 decades this system has proved its use in many applications across all continents. This system is available with 2, 3, 6 and 12 bags.

The relatively new series B-PACK – which is a complete dewatering system – can also be supplied in different Sizes and Variations. These compact units are complete of Sludge pump, Poly preparation, Poly Pump, Bags dewatering and control panel premounted on a frame and ready for connection on site. For special applications this system is available for 2, 3 or 6 bags.

Design and Function
The central part of this dewatering system is the dewatering bag itself which is a spun-woven hydrophobic textile. Units with fixtures for 2, 3, 6 and 12 bags are available. All units are made in stainless steel. The automatic control panel controls all the operations of the dewatering process.

For optimum dewatering the sludge generally needs to be treated with polyelectrolyte so that sludge particles can be conglomerated to larger floccs. For the preparation of polyelectrolyte suitable dosing units of the Series CMP are available. These are also controlled by the control panel of the automatic systems. Within several hours the sludge reaches a dryness of almost 15 %. The largest machine with pressure dewatering can dewater 16 m3 of sludge with 1% dry solids (DS) daily.

After the cycle which can take 10 to 24 hours the full bags can be removed with a special trolley and deposited to a storage area for drying. The filter textile protects against rain water while at the same time water vapour can escape during the drying period. During this phase the dryness increases further. Within a few months 50 to 90 % can be reached.
